The guardians of your data – IT Support Episode 108

So, we may not be the Guardians of the Galaxy, but your IT support company are the guardians of your data, to make sure it is available when you need it and not in the hands of people that don’t.

There are plenty of criminal gangs out there trying to get hold of your data to get access to some money. Whether this be through Ransomware attacks (see episode 78), spoofing you to get your bank details or getting you to paying a bogus invoice.

As Captain Christian explains prevention is better than cure, so when your IT support company gives you advice on how to protect your data, do listen.

For more details on multi-factor authentication see episode 23 or if you would like to talk to us about Ransomware protection, just contact us.

“The guardians of your data” – IT Support Episode 108

Who the hell are you guys?

We’re the guardians of your data.

So we may not be the Guardians of the Galaxy but we are the guardians of your data, to make sure it is available when you need it and not in the hands of people that don’t.

There are plenty of criminal gangs out there continually conspiring to get hold of your data to get access to some money.

Now it could be in the form of a ransomware attack, refer to “Episode 78”.

Or it could be in relation to spoofing you out of access to your bank account or paying a bogus invoice.

Either way you don’t want it to happen.

So when your IT support company. if they give you advice to use a certain service to further protect your data it could be a cloud backup, it could be multi-factor authentication, yes there’s another episode about that, or it could be about ransomware protection.

We, as a business, for example, provide it and it’s only a pound a computer a month.

And what’s the expression that my mother uses, “prevention is better than cure”.

And trust me, cleaning up after a ransomware attack you do not want to be dealing with. There are good and easy, let alone relatively cheap means to make sure that your data is protected.

So, as I said before, we may not be the Guardians of the Galaxy but we are the guardians of your data. So when we’ve got advice, do listen.

Until next time.
