Captain Christian red alert!

“Dodgy Stuff (Part 1)” – IT Support Episode 87

Cheers.

Knowing what everyone’s like at this time of the year. Nursing a hangover or two after we’ve had a bit too much of this we can sometimes do really dumb things on computers. One of them will be one of those really smart emails that comes in looking like it could be from a credit card provider and it’s demanding payment otherwise it’s threatening you with court action.

You need to be on the lookout for things like, links in the email that don’t quite tally up to where they’re supposed to be and a good tip if you’ve received an email, even if it’s from a company you usually deal with and they’re demanding payment but coincidentally it is saying that their banking details have changed,

call them,

and if in doubt get a colleague, family member, friend or your trusted IT company to look over the email and make sure it is genuine.

Especially avoiding such emails when you’ve had a little bit too much of this and this, or worse, nursing a hangover the next day when we’re not exactly firing on all cylinders.

So if in doubt, check it out.

Which just leaves me to wish you and your team a very happy New Year.
