“What is Microsoft NCE?”- IT Support Episode 107

The new Microsoft NCE program. What is it and do we care.

I can tell you everyone in my industry is hating it. It’s been steamrolled out and in a slightly bully-ish approach has been dumped on everybody. However, Microsoft are here, they’re not going anywhere and you and I need them.

So what does it mean for you?

Well, first of all NCE stands for “New Commerce Experience”.

Yes, you guessed right, it’s about the wonga. Microsoft have been upping the prices. They’ve, of course, said it’s been ages since we’ve done it,

blahdy blah.

Don’t forget those big data centres that are maintaining those Teams calls do require lots of electricity and what’s been going up recently?

Yes, electricity.

So, what do you really need to know.

Well, breaking it down into two simple options.

Microsoft have rolled out a monthly commitment option or an annual commitment option.

If you want to keep your subscriptions really flexible then you can go on the monthly package. Of course this costs a little bit more money.

Most of our clients only have a relatively stable number of staff, or are growing. For those it could be that
maintaining a flexible monthly option would be more helpful, but you still need to do the calculations.

If you’ve got the vast majority of users that are there to stay, the annual commitment will give you the best value for money especially on the more premium packages.

You can mix and match but just make sure you consult your account manager and make sure you’re getting the best value and that’s what I always want to deliver.

Until next time.
